Cs Beatrice Askul Assures Ruto Of Turkana Support

KENYA : Cabinet Secretary of East African Community Affairs and Regional Development, Beatrice Askul Moe, has pledged her Support and that of Turkana Residents for the Kenya Kwanza Administration.

Speaking in Turkana County, on Friday October 25, 2024, the EAC Cs, has expressed her gratitude to president William Ruto for the role, which inked her name in history books, as the First Female Cabinet Secretary from Turkana County.

The Cs, has pledged her full support to the Ruto-led administration, emphasizing the Turkana Community will trust government decision's and not question President Ruto's decision making or initiatives whatsoever.

"Mr President, For Making me the First Female Cabinet Secretary in Turkana County, Me and My People will support you fully and won't question your decisions. I forever I'm indebted to you" Askul Stated.

"You have no idea how happy the People of Turkana are, Coming from one of the 'lesser-priviledged' Communities, my Nomination as Cabinet Secretary has given hope to a lot of girls." She reiterated.

In July, President Ruto nominated Beatrice Askul Moe as the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs (EAC) and Regional Development.

Moe is a Social Scientist and a Consultant, having previously served as the County Executive Committee Member in charge of Water, Irrigation, Agriculture, and Land Reclamation in Turkana County Government.

She previously served as a Director of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Technical Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Chairperson Audit Committee of the Rift Valley Water Services Board, Project Officer of AMREF Kenya Turkana Project, and Relief Officer for the Oxfam Turkana Relief Program.

Moe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Governance and Ethics.

While taking over the Role, Beatrice Askul, pledged to spearhead development agendas for underserved regions and promote stronger integration within the East African Community.

Among the key areas the CS said she will prioritize include leveraging on the bilateral and multilateral synergies to boost intra-EAC trade, tackling trade bottlenecks, and supporting the ongoing reforms, aimed at ensuring the EAC becomes more responsive to the citizens’ needs.

The CS said she will work together with EAC Partner States to sustain regional initiatives that promote peace and security in our region.

She pointed out that the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda Plan, the Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP IV), and the Ministry’s Strategic Plan will be fundamental tools to guide the strategic direction towards achieving the Ministry's goal.

On climate change mitigation, Askul pointed out that she will work tirelessly with ASAL and Regional Development stakeholders to implement sustainable practices and policies, which will protect the environment and secure the livelihoods of people who depend on it.

To ensure sustainable development, Askul pledged to promote peaceful coexistence among communities by engaging on initiatives that foster dialogue, collaborate with diverse communities, saying, “Peace is the bedrock upon which all development is built.”

Askul promised to improve food and nutrition security by boosting resilient agricultural practices and robust food systems to ensure Kenyans access sufficient, safe, and nutritious food, especially those living in ASAL regions.
