If you have been abducted, Report to a Police Station - Amin

KENYA : Directorate of Criminal Investigations, DCI, has refuted claims of involvement in the chaos witnessed at a burial event attended by Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Limuru yesterday.

The investigative agency's director Mohamed Amin, has also denied allegations of the DCI being involved in the recent abductions reported in the country recently.

Amin, addressing the accusations, has reiterated the DCI is a law abiding agency, committed to ensuring Kenyans are safe and upholds it's constitutional mandate to this effect. The Director has also called upon Citizens to report any incident to authorities for investigation.

"If you claim to have been abducted, Please report the Matter to a Police Station so that we can assign investigators. We remain an impartial institution committed to the law" he said.

Amin, added that the Limuru incident is under investigation and appropriate action will be taken against both the perpetrators and instigators. Further, he called upon the public to let the Authorities know in Confidence if they have any information that might be crucial for investigations.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua detailed how the day unfolded and events leading to the Attack in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The Former DP, pointed an accusatory finger at the National Government, after he was attacked while attending the Burial Ceremony of a Friend in the Mt Kenya region.

Gachagua in a statement on Thursday, November 26 stated that it is very sad state of affairs and a major low for the state, who were clearly complicit in these actions.

He said that they especially remember the family that had a loved one in a casket, who had to run to safety despite their profound grief after gangsters armed with stones, machetes, iron bars and sticks attacked them.

“Today, I was at a funeral service in Limuru for a young man called Erastus Nduati. While we were preparing to lay the young man to rest goons attacked us & the other mourners who were present, including children” he said.

“We just especially remember the family that had a loved one in a casket, who had to run to safety despite their profound grief.”

The former Deputy President went on to narrate how gangs randomly descended on mourners, attacking them with the weapons they had.

He noted that a specific group trailed him as he rushed towards his car, which they attacked with stones and iron bars.

“A specific group followed me as I went to my car, which they proceeded to attack with stones and iron bars. We literally drove out of the venue under a hail of rocks!” Gachagua stated.

Gachagua mentioned that Kenyans are well aware that earlier this week, the government withdrew the final aspects of his security that had remained in place after the impeachment process. He added that they are contesting the matter.

“However, we did not raise issue with this decision by the government although expectations were that any Kenyan,” he stated.

Additionally, He stated that he would not be intimidated or deterred from standing with Kenyans who rely on him for support during their moments of need.

The Directorate of Criminal investigations, DCI, has since summoned Gachagua's allies to record statements including Kiambu Senator Karung'o Thang'wa who alleged it was an assassination attempt on the Former Deputy President.
