President Ruto : Kenyans are now Wise, The Era of Lying to Them is Over

KENYA'S President William Ruto has blushed off sentiments from critics of his administration, who have often opinionated he will be a one term President.

Speaking on Friday, January 10, 2025, the head of State claimed that his focus is on service delivery to the Citizenry and he will not be distracted by side-shows.

Mr. Ruto, urged leaders criticizing his administration to do the same and serve the electorate, insisting it was not yet time to conduct Campaigns.

The President, Opined that Kenyans have become wiser and knowledgeable on governance, stating that the era of lying to the people is over.

Ruto, emphasized that he will face-off with his critics when it's campaign time and Kenyans will then Judge his administration based on his track record, then determine on the ballot, whether he deserves another chance to continue leading the Country.

“Issues concerning 2027 are far away; let them wait; it’s too early,” Ruto said, adding that if anything, he sees no opponent at the moment other than his own manifesto.

“I will have my score card in 2027; I’m challenging those on the other side (opposition) to look for their score card or else they will be stuck.”

Ruto enumerated the gains he has made thus far since coming into office, including improved education, rural electrification, fertiliser subsidy, universal health coverage, and affordable housing.

“Nyinyi wengine mjipange maneno yenyu mtakuja kusema ni gani (Those others be ready to come and outline what you have),” he said.

Meanwhile, the President addressed the controversy surrounding AI-generated images that have been circulating widely on social media.

In recent months, these images, which depict President Ruto and other leaders in coffins or as deceased, have gone viral, sparking outrage among leaders allied to the President.

Speaking during the official opening of the Ngeria Technical Training Institute in Kapseret, the President urged young Kenyans to be responsible with their use of the internet.

He specifically called on the youth to resist being manipulated by politicians to spread such images, warning that continuing down this path would lead to self-destruction.

President Ruto emphasized that sharing these morbid images would have no positive impact on those involved—neither on the individuals depicted nor on those who circulate the photos.

“I want to urge the youth not to be misled by politicians paying them little amounts of money to share images of leaders in coffins. I want to tell this young people, today you’ll put leaders inside coffins, tomorrow you’ll put your parents, the day after tomorrow you’ll do the same to your friends or siblings then in the end you’ll start killing,” he said.

“I want to ask you, those who are encouraging young people to continue this trend where they are putting people in coffins let us be careful so that we don't build a generation that is going to self-destruct.”

At the same time, Ruto reiterated that young people must be taught that good morals and good character pay.

He said that instead of using the internet to have pictures, images of people in coffins, the youth should use the internet to monetize and create jobs for themselves, earn money and make their lives better.

“I am very proud of the young people that I saw in this TVET. We have a total number of 120,000 young Kenyans who are earning a living through digital jobs.” he said.
