Kenyatta University Introduces Free Online Courses; How to Apply

Kenyatta University (KU) students interested in gaining tech skills have a reason to smile after the higher learning institution launched a new initiative offering comrades a series of free online courses to enhance their skills.

Designed to equip students with essential knowledge in modern technology fields and prepare them for the ever-evolving digital world, these courses will come in handy.

One of the reasons why a KU student should consider the Courses is, Kenya stands at the forefront of Africa's technological revolution.

The government is taking bold steps to create an environment where innovation thrives – from crafting forward-thinking tech policies to building supportive infrastructure for entrepreneurs and innovators.

We are seeing the impact already: AI solutions transforming agriculture, revolutionary financial products reaching the unbanked, and digital tools reshaping education.

The Ministry of ICT has also released a call for public Participation in Kenya's national AI strategy.

The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025-2030 sets forth a comprehensive vision to position the country as the leading AI hub for model innovation in Africa, with a focus on sustainable development, economic growth, and social inclusion.

The strategy is built on three key pillars: AI Digital Infrastructure for accessible and affordable AI infrastructure; Data, which focuses on establishing a robust sustainable data ecosystem; and AI Research and Innovation, aimed at developing cutting-edge localized AI models and solutions.

These pillars are supported by four critical enablers: Governance frameworks, Talent Development, Investments, and a commitment to ethical, equitable, and inclusive AI development.

The strategy outlines specific goals, objectives, and flagship projects across seven strategic themes, proposing a phased implementation approach beginning with foundational investments in policy, infrastructure, and capacity building.

Key priorities include modernizing national digital infrastructure, establishing data governance frameworks, enhancing AI research capabilities, developing talent pipelines, creating agile regulatory frameworks, accelerating public and private investments, and fostering ethical AI development.

The strategy identifies priority sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, public service delivery, security, MSMEs, and the creative sector.
