Kiambu Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha, has called out leaders from to the Mt Kenya region opposed to President William Ruto's government.
Wamuratha, Speaking on January 20, 2025, rebuked impeached deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his continued attacks on government, accusing Ruto of betraying the region's electorate through his ouster.
Ms. Wamuratha stated that some leaders from the vote-rich region feel entitled, inciting residents while they have done nothing to uplift the lives of locals.
She urged the residents to ignore the Kenya-Kwanza administration's 'rebellion calls from naysayers, arguing she has done so much more for the citizenry than the so called 'gatekeepers.
"I have purchased blow-dry equipment for all women in Kiambu County and bodabodas for all youths. Those referring to themselves as 'Itungati' have nothing to offer but empty rhetoric." said Wamuratha.
The Woman Rep, defended President William Ruto against onslaught following Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment as deputy, stating that Gachagua's actions and 'loud mouth' was to blame for the fate that befell him.
Ms. Wamuratha called upon the residents to keep supporting the government, insisting Gachagua should carry his own cross.
Her remarks came just a day after the Former Deputy President urged Kenyans not to re-elect Members of Parliament who supported his impeachment motion.
The Former Deputy President had attended a church service on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the PCEA Emmanuel Matanya, Waguthiru Parish in Laikipia County.
Gachagua, faulted Mt Kenya Region legislators, for supporting his 'state-sponsored' ouster motion, stating that greed has crowded their judgement, they would even betray their own kin.
" The big problem we have in the Mt. Kenya region is the quality of senators and MPs we elected. People who, for the right price, would sell their own mother" he said.
Gachagua went ahead to urge the Mt Kenya Region Voters not to Re-elect legislators who supported his impeachment saying, "Please do me the favour of not voting for MPs and Senators who impeached me".
The Former Dp took issue with President William Ruto for allegedly betraying the region through supporting his removal from office.
"Even if the president deceived me, didn’t he deceive the bishops too? His words came too early, revealing his true intentions. Had he been patient and allowed us to return in 2027, we’d have faced an unprecedented problem. We thank God for making the President show his true colours." said Gachagua.
He vowed to lead the Region back to government, revealing he will be working with allies to see President William Ruto is not re-elected come 2027.
He exuded confidence in the region's ability to oust the Kenya-kwanza administration.
"God willing, I will lead the Mt Kenya region into government. A government that respects and works for it's people. We have the numbers. All we need is to create unity and get the right friends. We have many friends and we will succeed." he noted.
Meanwhile, Gachagua emphasised the importance of unity, vigilance and gratitude towards God for the nation of Kenya, reflecting on the blessings the country has received, stating, "God has given us a great Nation of Kenya and a wonderful people Kenyans are".
He urged both the church and the Kenyan people to remain strong and vigilant, stressing that the nation must stay united in the face of any adversity.
"We cannot afford a broken nation and lawlessness. Not anymore," Gachagua said, calling for national peace and stability.
