'Every Second, 𝑆UGOI' World Athletics Championships unveils Official motto.

Kenyans have taken to social media to react after the Local Organising Committee of the World Athletics 2025 Championships set to be held in Tokyo, Japan, unveiled the official motto and visual identity for this year’s highly anticipated event.

The poster features the official motto for the 20th edition of the Championships; Every second, SUGOI.

Sugoi, rose into the limelight in the East African Country after President William Ruto's election win, with his home place becoming a topic of National discussion.

Kenyans, taking to social Media, reacted to the Athletics motto, with some stating it was an indication that the head of state, who has been under siege is on the run towards home.

" Ruto is headed back to Sugoi come 2027, this year's athletics know his run back home is unavoidable" an X user stated.

" Ata sisi tuko na kijana ya sugoi anatukimbiza sana (we also have a leader from sugoi who has been driving us nuts)" another added.

Others who support Ruto's regime however opined that it was an indication the President is on a run to win the next General Elections.

"The Son of Sugoi is running towards the finish line with his winning manifesto, They won't believe" a Facebook user said.

According to the World Athletics, The official motto ‘Every second, SUGOI’, carries a powerful message—one that aspires to make the Japanese word ‘SUGOI’ (amazing, extraordinary) a global expression of awe and inspiration.

"Through the Championships, WCH Tokyo 25 to have the world focus on Tokyo, with people from every corner of the globe embracing and echoing ‘SUGOI’ throughout the Championships." they state.

The Athletics organisers claim Every second, SUGOI’ signifies that every moment of this year’s Championships, from start to finish, will be extraordinary, creating an event where the spirit of ‘SUGOI’ resonates with everyone.

" This motto also marks a historic first for the World Athletics Championships by combining both the language of the host country, Japanese, and the English language. It reflects the LOC’s ambition to transcend language barriers, encouraging people worldwide to connect through shared emotions and a love for sport.

With this, WCH Tokyo 25 is envisioned as a platform for people across the world to unite with Tokyo and Japan through the universal language of athletics." World Athletics notes.
