Embakasi East Member Of Parliament, Paul Ongili, Popularly known as Babu Owino has demanded an apology from Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu.
The Vocal Second-time legislator, claims that the East African Neighbors officials, subjected him to a humiliating experience as he embarked on a visit.
Babu, speaking during an Interview on January 31, 2025, revealed that he was not allowed to enter the East African country where he was on a trip.
The Embakasi Mp, opened up about the humiliation he faced at the hands of immigration officers in Tanzania.
According to him, he could not be cleared as soon he produced his passport before the Tanzanian officials.
The Vocal Legislator, revealed that he was detained for three hours, with the immigration team labelling him a wanted criminal by the Interpol.
"I recently went to Tanzania. I could not be let in when arrived at the Dar es Salaam Airport. When I gave them my passport, they said that I am wanted by Interpol. I was detained for three hours" said Owino.
"It is so unfortunate that the Tanzanian government put me on the Most Wanted Interpol List. President Samia owes me an apology," Babu stated.
In a similar incident, the Embakasi Legislator, previously clashed with Ugandan President.
In August last year, President Yoweri Museveni called the MP out over his links with Ugandan politicians who are against the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Speaking during the official launch of Raila Odinga’s African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson bid in Nairobi, Museveni said he always receives intelligence reports about the Kenyan parliamentarian.
“There are some individuals in Raila’s group who I don’t think know what they are doing. You know I am a consumer of intelligence service. So, I always see intelligence reports. There is a character called Babu. I always see Babu dealing with anti-NRM groups,” said Museveni.
The Ugandan president, however, delinked Babu from Raila saying he knows the latter as a nationalist.
The accusation, followed after the Embakasi East Mp was spotted severally with Uganda's Opposition Chief Bobi Wine.
In response, Babu Owino said he will hold back on the Ugandan President's attack, since he want's Museveni to vote for Baba (Raila) in his bid for the African Union Chairperson.
" The current President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni came yesterday and I don’t want him to lose his vote for Baba. I respect him as my grandfather." Babu Said
" The number of years he has served in power is more than my years and therefore there is a time and a season for everything." Owino added, referencing to Museveni's long tenure in Power while hinting he had overstayed his welcome.
" I respect him and I recognize him as a revolutionary and there are those revolutionaries who ended up very badly" Babu concluded.
Several Kenyan Leaders have come to the Defense of Babu Owino, claiming it was ill-mannered of the Ugandan President to attack a Kenyan Legislator, while a guest of state.
The Kenyan legislators, including Sifuna and Gathoni Wa Muchomba, suggested President Yoweri should have reported to security agencies, or followed legal procedures, if he had an issue with Babu Owino.
The Vocal Legislator has made headlines over his outright condemnation of bad governance. Babu, whose impeccable development record in Embakasi East Constituency has made him a darling to the Citizenry, is also a headache for President Ruto's administration, taking every opportunity to call out the government on it's short-comings.
