KENYA - Kibwezi West Member Of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse has addressed allegations that he spent Ksh 9.9 Million NG-CDF Funds to construct a Swimming Pool in one of the schools.
According to reports circulating on several online Platforms and Media Channels, the vocal legislator overspent in construction of a swimming pool at Kalulini Secondary School in the constituency.
Addressing the reports on February 2, 2025, Mr. Mutuse clarified that the project was started during the time of his Predecessor in an effort to elevate and modernise the school to be a centre of excellence.
He went ahead to state that as the successor, NG- CDF committee was/ is legally and morally obligated to complete all projects that were handed over at different stages of completion, this included.
According to the Legislator, the amount in question was also paid for work done before he became a member of Parliament.
Mutuse claimed that he is reliably aware that the project has been allocated optimal funds to Operationalize it.
Terming the allegations as erroneous reporting, Mutuse claimed that his political nemesis are out to sabotage his reputation and taint his name.
" From these facts, it’s therefore mere sensationalism to say I spend money to build a swimming pool. It is meant to paint me in bad light against the clear facts enumerated above." said Mutuse.
" It is equally alarming how desperate some people have become in trying to mudsling me. Your lies won’t yield much." he added.
Mutuse, empasized that the role of an MP in the implementation of NG-CDF under the law is oversight and representation.
