Oscar Sudi to Youths : I'm not Poor, I can give you Ksh 2,000 each

KENYA - Kapseret Member Of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi, has broken his silence after he was heckled by Youths during an event at Moi's Bridge earlier today.

Speaking in a video shared on his social media platforms on February 2, 2025, the Vocal Mp called out leaders who he claims paid goons to infuriate a peaceful event and boo him as he addressed the crowd.

The Mp was attending a funds drive hosted by Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Dr Jonathan Chelilim Bii for victims of a fire incident at Moi's Bridge Trading Centre, Uasin Gishu.

Sudi, was interrupted by a group of rowdy youths, forcing him to cut shot his address, before the crowd was calmed down.

The Mp, admonished leaders and the youths in equal measure, urging young people not fall victim to politicians tricks by accepting peanuts in pay to help the political class settle their scores.

He Stated that while he's going home, in a better house and enjoying better health facilities, it was wrong of him or any other leader to give youths just 300 shillings to fight other leaders.

Sudi, claimed that he is not poor, and he's capable of paying the goons and Youths in attendance Sh 2,000 each.

" Mimi ni mjumbe, Didmus ni mjumbe. Leo jioni sisi tunaenda makwetu. Manyumba tunaishi inashinda yenu. Hospitali tunaenda inashinda yenu. Alafu mimi badala nikusaidie natafuta mia tatu nikupee nikupiganishe na mtu mwingine. Iyo ni haki kweli? Kwani mnafikiria nikikasirika niwaambie mpange laini kila mtu elfu mbili mbili. Nitawapea nyinyi wote." Said Sudi.

The Vocal Legislator, urged leaders to instead focus on service delivery, stating that it's not yet time to campaign.

Meanwhile, Kimilili Member of Parliament, Didmus Barasa who had accompanied sudi, addressing the faithful of AIC Kapsang, Soy Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, hinted at the likelihood of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua rejoining forces with President William Ruto in the lead-up to the 2027 general election.

The lawmaker asserted that the president would assemble an invincible political formation with which he would seek re-election.

According to him, the team would include all the political players, stating that Gachagua would be recalled to the faction if need be.

"We will bring Rigathi Gachagua back if we need him. He was only deemed unsuitable to serve as Deputy President, but he can still be a voter and a member of our coalition." Said Barasa.

" We hope that by 2027, he will have reformed. We will reinstate his membership in UDA and find him another role that suits him," he added.

But even if it happens that the president's side courts Gachagua back to his fold, the former deputy president has resolved never to partner with Ruto again politically.

The former deputy president begrudged Ruto after the latter seemed to have sanctioned his impeachment in October last year.

Gachagua held that it was unfair for Ruto to remotely supervise his impeachment yet he supported him and mobilised the Mt Kenya vote for him in 2022.

He therefore concluded that Mt Kenya, his native region, can no longer trust Ruto, citing deception and betrayal.

Gachagua is believed to be strategising for the next vote; he has hinted at partnering with other national figures, among them Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP Kenya's Eugene Wamalwa and Martha Karua of Narc Kenya.

It is however not lost that being an impeached person, Gachagua cannot vie for any seat nor seek an appointive public post.

He is therefore believed to be positioning himself as a kingmaker who would be using his influence to install a new president in the 2027 vote.
