KENYA : Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made a bold claim that the Kenya-Kwanza administration has been planning to Arrest and Poison him, over his growing influence in the country.
Speaking on Sunday, February 9, 2025, during an interview at his Wamunyoro Residence in Nyeri County, Gachagua said that the government has been working effortlessly to silence him.
"They have been planning to arrest and poison me, just like they did to Matiba" The Former Dp Said.

Gachagua, cautioned the Kenya-Kwanza administration against taking such a Move.
" Our Young People have told me that the day that happens, they will not keep quiet and all hell will break loose, because that is the only language Ruto understands." he added.
Gachagua declared that the Mt. Kenya region would not support Ruto or partner with him, accusing the president of conning and humiliating the region.
"President Ruto conned us and has humiliated this community. We will never support Ruto; we will never partner in politics and we will never vote for him," he said.
Additionally, in a direct attack on President William Ruto’s leadership of UDA, Gachagua lamented what he described as political betrayal and alienation.
"From today henceforth, our people are done with UDA. We joined this party knowing it's a good outfit, but President Ruto is both the driver and the holder of the logbook, and now he has declared war on us. It's time we get our own vehicle," he added.
Gachagua also took a swipe at Ruto’s perceived attempts to weaken the Mount Kenya region politically, warning that such moves would not succeed.
"I have been asked to look for friends. Our friends have resolved that they will not allow Ruto's plan to isolate the mountain starting with Ukambani which is now known as Mount Kenya South," he stated.
This is not the first time the Impeached Deputy has claimed that there were attempts on his life.
Speaking outside the Karen Hospital on Sunday, October 20, Rigathi said there were two attempts on his life.
The Former DP, stated that the first attempt to assassinate him involved having an undercover agent poison his food.
"On the 30th of August, undercover security agents entered my room in Kisumu and one of them tried to poison my food but we detected it and we were able to escape the scheme. I was supposed to be killed through food poisoning," he said.
Gachagua noted that the second attempt to take him out happened in Nyeri where National Intelligence Service (NIS) operatives were sent to poison food meant for him and the Kikuyu Council of Elders.
"on the 3rd of September, another team from the NIS came to Nyeri and tried to poison food that was meant for me and the Kikuyu Council of Elders. I did report this matter to the NIS and the officers who were assigned to my office, I asked them to leave because I felt I was not safe," he alleged.
Gachagua claimed that he is not feeling safe and that if anything happens to him, the Head of State should be held to account.
"It is unfortunate that when I was here in the hospital, my brother and friend President William Ruto ordered the withdrawal of my security. Officers who were close to me were disarmed and given a warning that they should not be anywhere near me. I didn't know President Ruto could be that vicious. If anything happens to me, President William Ruto should be held accountable," Gachagua remarked.
He added, “Rigathi Gachagua and his family feel very exposed. I ask President William Ruto, my brother, I helped you to be president. Leave me alone. Leave my children alone. Do whatever you want, but let me live. Don’t kill us. Don’t kill my children.”
