𝐀𝐟𝐃𝐁 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚.

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has formed a historic partnership with Interpol, becoming the first multilateral development bank to establish such a collaboration with the international police organization.

The agreement, formalized through a Letter of Intent signed by AfDB President Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and Interpol Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza in Abidjan, will strengthen cooperation between the bank's Office of Integrity and Anti-Corruption and Interpol's Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Centre.

The partnership aims to combat emerging financial crime threats, including cybercrime, corruption, and terrorism financing, with a particular focus on Africa's growing digital economy challenges.

According to Interpol's 2024 Global Financial Fraud Assessment, various online frauds pose increasing threats to Africa's digital economy.
