Baringo County Governor Benjamin Cheboi, has slammed Kenyans and Opposition Leaders in the country who have been calling out the head of state, giving him nicknames like Kasongo, urging them to be respectful.
Speaking in Baringo County on Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Agitated Governor Stated that It was out of order, for Ruto's Critics to resort to name-calling, instead of engaging the head of state amicably on matters of National Interest.

Governor Cheboi, who was speaking during the send-off of the county's senator William Cheptumo, insisted that the late was a Respectful Politician, a thing Politicians in the country should emulate.
The County Boss, Advised the Opposition leaders in the country to instead serve Kenyans, sell their manifesto and let the Government do it's part without the unnecessary sideshows.
"Wewe ni nani uite Ruto Kasongo, si lazima mutusiane ndio msikike" the Baringo governor said, loosely meaning, ''Who are you to call President Ruto Kasongo? you don't have to be disrespectful to be heard".
President William Ruto recently downplayed the nickname 'Kasongo' stating that his intelligence simply surpasses those who call him that.
Ruto, stated that he does not give a damn about nicknames like Kasongo and Zakayo, saying he is focused on the country's development.
While addressing the Nickname, during a development tour in Bungoma in January, Mr. Ruto claimed that he mistook the governor’s reference to an area in the county known as 'Isonga' for Kasongo.
“Nimesikia Governor akisema isonga nikadhani ananiita Kasongo, ati amesema nini?” He asked and the residents who shouted ‘isonga’ while Some people, yelled “Kasongo.”
The president chuckled and promised to keep bringing Kenyans together, while at the same time calling out his critics.
"Si mnajua wengine nimewashinda na akili wameanza kuniweka majina, hata wakiniita Kasongo sijui Zakayo bora kazi inasonga mbele, mimi sina shida," the President added.
' Since I'm intelligent than them (Critics) they have been calling been calling me names like Zakayo and Kasongo but I don't care so long as the country is progressing'.
