Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza offered Kenyans a glimpse into her private life by sharing photos of herself herding goats within her beautifully maintained home compound, paved with cabros.
Ms. Mwangaza, who was ousted last month and replaced by her Deputy after the Court of Appeal upheld the Senate's decision to vote in favor of her removal from office, maintains she still is the legitimate county chief, announcing resumption of her "Okolea programme" an initiative to support the livelihoods of residents.
The impeached governor, last month refuted claims there were substantial grounds for her ouster, lamenting she was targeted for being a woman and refusing to subdue to demands - a Political Witch-hunt - she said.
Ms. Mwangaza, pointed an accusatory finger at the President, the National Government and Meru leaders who attended her deputy's swearing-in ceremony on Monday. Stating they orchestrated her ouster, despite her spotless record.
" My impeachment was not a reflection of my performance or integrity but a calculated move by male chauvinists, political competitors, and for political expediency, a complicit National Government willing to silence a woman who dared to lead."
"It was not a reflection of the will of the people but rather a calculated move by political competitors and the National Government, who sought to punish me for refusing to be politically manipulated." She said.
Mwangaza claimed the impeachment process was a sham, orchestrated by predominantly male politicians who manipulated the system to remove her from office.
She accused the National Government of actively influencing the outcome, ensuring that the voices of Meru residents who elected her were ignored, "instead of upholding the rule of law" she noted.
"Even the courts, which should have been my refuge, were interfered with to block my access to justice. This is not just an attack on me but an attack on democracy, gender equality, and the rights of every Kenyan woman who aspires to lead." Mwangaza lamented.
"I will not be silenced. I will pursue all legal avenues to clear my name and expose the injustices that have been perpetrated against me. This is not just my fight; it is a fight for every woman who dares to dream of leadership in a society that often seeks to crush those dreams." Mwangaza said.
"To the people of Meru, I want to assure you that this fight is far from over. I will not be silenced, and I will not allow the voices of the people to be drowned out by the greed and corruption of a few. I remain committed to the ideals that guided my leadership, and I will continue to advocate for justice, fairness, and the development of our beloved county."
