With less than a month remaining, the Agricultural Society of Kenya has confirmed that all is set for the 57th Edition of the annual Central ASK show.
The agricultural fair is slated to take place at the Kabiru-ini showground in Nyeri from September 10 to September 13 under the theme Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.
According to Central Kenya ASK show chairman Patrick Munuhe, the theme aligns with the government’s agenda on promoting the adoption of climate smart initiatives in agriculture.
He said that this year’s show would also focus on promoting sustainability, resilience and innovation as pillars of economic advancement adding that participants would get a chance to interact with new knowledge and technological advancements in the field of agriculture and trade.
“This year’s shows will feature live demonstrations, expert-led workshops and hands-on training. The event is designed to foster knowledge exchange, collaborations, and industry growth. Exhibitors will present cutting edge solutions and emerging trends that reinforce the show's critical role in driving Kenya’s agricultural transformation,” stated Munuhe.
Some of the technologies that will be displayed include the latest innovations in water management, post-harvest solutions, renewable energy use in agriculture, new innovation in agriculture mechanization and the latest climate resilient crop varieties and seeds. Farmers will also get a chance to explore the available agribusiness financing opportunities.
The chairman noted that the show would accelerate the adoption of climate smart practices in agriculture and provide a platform for networking between farmers, policy makers, industry players and investors with the aim of building partnerships that could strengthen the growth of the agriculture sector.
“Farmers who will attend the show will get insights into the latest technologies that are being applied to increase agricultural productivity but also protect our environment in the era of climate change. They will also discover innovative services, products as well as partnership opportunities that will help them become part of the strategic conversation that is shaping the economic landscape,” said the chairman.
Munuhe said that already, 150 exhibitors from the finance, agriculture, housing, hospitality education and manufacturing sectors have booked demonstration farms and exhibition stands ahead of the September 9 deadline.
He said that they were expecting 300 exhibitors from the public and private sectors to exhibit in this year’s show.
