    KPLC Announces Power Outage to Hit 10 Counties

    The Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC) has announced planned power interruptions across several parts of the country on Thursday, September 25, to facilitate maintenance works.

    According to the power provider, the blackout will affect Nairobi, Nakuru, Kakamega, Nyamira, Murang’a, Nyeri, Isiolo, Kirinyaga, Kwale and Mombasa counties.

    In Nairobi County, the outage will be experienced in Kamkunji between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

    Areas to be affected include Jua Kali, Shauri Moyo, Muthurwa Primary, parts of Gikomba, Gikomba Social Hall, DO’s Office Gikomba, Family Bank Gikomba, Co-op Bank Gikomba, BBS Mall, Shell Petrol Station, Ismariot Hotel, Nomad Hotel, Eastleigh High School, Pumwani Boys, Starehe Boys Centre, part of General Waruinge and adjacent customers.

    In Nakuru County, power will go off in Gilgil from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    The outage will cover the whole of Gilgil Town, Ndume Ltd, Culsons Ltd, Pembroke School, Langalanga, Malewa, NYS, Kenyatta Barracks, 2KA, Garison School, Koilel Secondary School, Milimani, Ngomongo and Utumishi School.

    ASTU, Gitare, Mawingu, Gatarwa, Diatomite Ltd, Epashikino Hotel, Pelican, Karura, Heaven’s Gate, St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Serena Hotel, Soysambu, Kasambara, Lemon Valley, Echireria and adjacent customers will also be affected.

    In Kakamega County, the interruption is scheduled for Kambi Mwanza and surrounding areas from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Affected places include KWS, Ivakale, Ileho, Shamberere, West Kenya Sugar, Ingavira, Mahira, Shianda, Matende and adjacent customers.

    In Nyamira County, residents of Nyabikomu, Iteresi, Engentubi, Engeta, Kwabincha and adjacent areas will face a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Murang’a County will also be affected, specifically Kirimiri and Ndithini Mission from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Areas on the list are Mbogo Estate, Kaguku, Assumption of Mary Ithanga, Ndithini Mission and adjacent customers.

    In Nyeri County, the blackout will cover Kamacharia and Mathioya Polytechnic from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    The areas include Kamacharia Market, Kamacharia Girls, Kagumoini Coffee Factory, Agachiku, Kandabibi Market, Warugara Market, Kora Market, Kanorwe Dairy, Kirithiru, Gikindu, Mananga Secondary, Mathioya Polytechnic and adjacent customers.

    In Isiolo County, the interruption will be experienced around Isiolo Airport from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    The affected areas are Mwangaza Water Supply, Airport, Kandebe Market, 78 Tank Battalion, Kambi Sharrif, Osman Ndima, Ntulele Primary, Kisima Borehole and adjacent customers.

    Kirinyaga County residents in Kagio and Kandongu will also be without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    The blackout will affect Kagio Market, Kianjogu Village, Sagana Mission, Sagana Nuts, Kandongu Primary School, Kandongu Market and adjacent customers.

    In Kwale County, Mwabungo and Jorori areas will be off supply between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

    Affected places include Mwabungo, Mvindeni, Ibiza, Kila Kitu, Bongwe, Jorori and adjacent customers.

    In Mombasa County, parts of Shanzu will experience a blackout between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

    The areas affected include Bamburi Air Strip, Muzungu Tiles Shanzu, AIC Shanzu, Bush Bar, Junda Secondary, Jororabi School, Zawadi Apartments, JCC, Bamburi Cement (BCL) Staff Quarters and adjacent customers.
