Health Cabinet Secretary (Cs) Aden Duale, Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi and National Treasury CS John Mbadi and two other cabinet secretaries, have made fresh appointments to various government boards.
In a gazette notice dated October 31, Health CS Aden Duale appointed six individuals to serve as members of the Nursing Council of Kenya for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 (1) of the Nurses and Midwives Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Health appoints Collins Otieno Ajwang, Salome Nasimiyu Situma, Teckla Ngotie, Gilbert Sigei, Juliana Misore (Prof..), Sarah Marrey Burje, to be Members of the Nursing Council of Kenya, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 31st October, 2025,” the notice read.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi reappointed Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri–Zaja and Henry Gathara Karinga as members of the Board of Directors of Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited, for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (e) of the State Corporations Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum re-appoints—Lilian Bokeeye Mahiri–Zaja, Henry Gathara Karinga, to be Members of the Board of Directors of Kenya Petroleum Refineries Limited, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 31st October, 2025,” read the notice.
On his part, Co-operatives CS Wycliffe Oparanya has established a National Steering Committee and County Steering Committees the revive coffee through co-operatives for a period of two years, effective October 31, 2025.
The National Steering Committee will be chaired by Njeru Ndwiga, with Daniel Chemno serving as the 1st Vice-Chairperson and James Wachihi Muturi as the 2nd Vice-Chairperson.
Other members of the committee include Timothy Mirugi, Laura Wanjiru, Charles Rintaugu, Kennedy Kilwake, Okioma Mwancha, Caroline Cherotich, David Obonyo, Henry Kinyua, Dr. Elijah Gichuru, Felix Mutwiri, Felix Miano, and Richard Kiprono Magut.
The County Steering Committee will be chaired by the County Commissioner, with the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member for Agriculture or Co-operatives serving as the Co-Chair.
The County’s New KPCU Representative will act as the Secretary, while other members will include the County Chief Officer of Agriculture, the County Chief Officer of Co-operatives, a representative from a Coffee Co-operative Society or Union, and the County Director of Co-operatives.
Among the committee’s key responsibilities is to develop and submit a comprehensive report to the Cabinet Secretary detailing measures to strengthen the coffee industry.
The committee will also design and oversee the implementation of strategies to revive coffee production in traditional growing regions and introduce the crop to new and emerging areas.
In addition, the team will mobilize financial resources to support coffee co-operatives, provide strategic oversight for revitalization programs, and ensure the availability of quality coffee seedlings across the country.
It will also champion the inclusion of women and youth in coffee co-operatives while developing communication and branding strategies to enhance farmer awareness and promote the visibility of the initiative.
Meanwhile, investment, Trade and Industry CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed Gor Anthony Ochieng as a member of the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 89 (2) (d) (vi) of the Consumer Protection Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade and Industry appoints—Gor Anthony Ochieng to be a Member of the Kenya Consumer Protection Advisory Committee, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 31st October, 2025,” read the notice.
Treasury CS Mbadi on his part, appointed former Gwasi Constituency MP Felix Useru Nyauchi as a member of the Insurance Tribunal for a period of three years. The appointment of Sammy Chepkwony, the Chairperson of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), was revoked.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 169 (2) of the Insurance Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for The National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints— Felix Useru Nyauchi to be a Member of the Insurance Tribunal, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 31st October, 2025,” read the gazette notice.
