Kenya's President William Ruto has congratulated Tanzania for the Progress they have been making in the East African Community (EAC) through Progressive reforms in trade.
Speaking during the 24TH EAC heads of State Summit in Arusha, Tanzania, the Kenyan President expressed admiration for the Samia Suluhu Led East African Neighbors.
Ruto, stated that Kenya has been the Leading country in the block on Goods and Services traded between Countries in East African Community, a Position Tanzania has since taken.
'' In the inter-trade between all our countries, Kenya was the leading country in terms of the goods and services we trade. Tanzania has overtaken Kenya and I must commend Tanzania for the Progress they're making" Ruto said.
In related news, Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held constructive meetings with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, on the sidelines of the East African Community (EAC) Summit.
The discussions focused on advancing regional integration, enhancing trade and economic partnerships, and strengthening security cooperation to address shared challenges in the Horn of Africa. President Hassan Sheikh reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to fostering deeper ties with fellow EAC partner states, recognizing that collective efforts are essential for achieving regional stability and sustainable development.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended Presidents Museveni and Ruto for their visionary leadership and dedication to regional progress, emphasizing Somalia’s readiness to contribute to the East African Community’s shared goals. These engagements reflect a mutual resolve to promote peace, prosperity, and collaboration across the region.
Finally, Kenya's President William Samoei Ruto has been elected as the East African Community (EAC) chairperson for a year.
Kenya now has a stronger voice in shaping EAC policies, especially those impacting trade, security, and infrastructure.
Additionally, As chair, Ruto can push for reduced trade barriers and smoother customs processes, creating better market access for Kenyan businesses.
The head of state assures the Community to Expect more focus on regional projects like roads, railways, and energy networks that connect Kenya to its neighbors.
Kenya will also play a key role in mediating conflicts in areas like South Sudan and the DRC, ensuring peace and economic growth in the region.
EAC could make progress toward deeper integration, such as a common currency and a more united East African Federation.
