Veteran media personality Leonard Mambo Mbotela has died.

The veteran journalist had been unwell for some time and he breathed his last at around 9:30 am on Friday.

Mbotela was married to Alice Mwikali who together had three children: Aida Mbotela, Jimmy Mbotela and George Mbotela.

The legendary journalist was famed for his popular radio and TV programme dubbed Jee Huuu ni Ungwana which aired on KBC radio and TV.

The programme was created in 1966 and it enjoyed coverage for about 55 years.

He briefly worked with Kenya Weekly News and the East African Standard before joining KBC.

Kenyans have taken to different social media Platforms to Celebrate the life of the Veteran Journalist.

" Kenya has very few national figures and icons. And Mbotela's place in that Hall of Honour is secure. Jeez Huu ni Ungwana was a big program when radio made sense, before that Ghanaian, Patrick Quarcoo, ruined radio, introducing around the clock sec talk. May Mbotela travel well and safe to the land yonder." Gisiora Stated.

" An icon of truth,a fighter of the less fortunate,a distinguished public servant,an employee that loved and enjoyed his job with passion. Age has caught up with him,so is death. If only we could overcome the two,some personalities are worth staying in the second world. You'll forever remain in our memories. Rest in peace" Ben Genga Added.
