The boundary demarcation between Kenya and Tanzania is almost complete, with 558 out of 758 kilometres reaffirmed.
A joint multi-agency team from both countries has been working diligently, targeting completion by year-end.
The exercise, conducted under international legal frameworks, involves surveying, marking, and legal verification of the border.
Deputy Head of the Public Service, Mr. Amos Gathecha, commended the dedication of over 80 officers drawn from various Kenyan agencies, including the Ministry of Lands, the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), the Immigration Department, and the Kenya International Boundaries Office (KIBO), among others.
“These officers have spent months in the field, working in challenging terrain, wildlife zones, and remote areas. Their patriotism, technical acumen, and commitment to duty are exemplary,” he stated.
Upon completion, a bilateral agreement will be signed early next year. The process strengthens Kenya’s border management, sovereignty, and regional cooperation.
