AXA Health International, operating under the AXA Global Healthcare brand, has announced a strategic collaboration in Tanzania with Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited and MIC Global Risks Tanzania Ltd. The move marks another milestone in AXA’s ongoing expansion across Africa, reinforcing its commitment to delivering premium international healthcare solutions in high-growth markets.
The collaboration is set to enhance access to global-standard healthcare services in Tanzania, targeting individuals, corporates, expatriates, and internationally mobile professionals. Through this partnership, clients will benefit from The Global Executive Health Plan (GEHP) — a comprehensive international private medical insurance solution designed to facilitate access to specialised treatment beyond national borders.
This development builds on AXA Health International’s earlier partnership with Executive Healthcare Solutions (EHS), announced in October 2025, which established an exclusive distribution framework across Kenya and several African markets. In Tanzania, MIC Global Risks—appointed by EHS as intermediary—serves as the exclusive distributor.
The partnership is structured to ensure efficiency, compliance, and seamless service delivery:
AXA Health International provides global healthcare administration, medical expertise, and access to its extensive international provider network.
MIC Global Risks Tanzania Ltd acts as the exclusive distributor, managing client engagement, policy issuance, and ongoing servicing.
Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited serves as the licensed local insurer, ensuring regulatory compliance, with premiums paid directly to the company.
Meeting the Needs of a Growing Market
As Tanzania continues to position itself as a regional hub for investment, trade, and professional mobility, demand for international healthcare solutions is rising. Multinational corporations, expatriates, and globally mobile professionals increasingly require access to advanced medical care that may not be readily available locally.
The GEHP addresses this gap by offering structured access to internationally recognised hospitals and specialists, supported by services such as medical evacuation, cross-border care coordination, and second medical opinions.
Importantly, the plan is not designed as a domestic health insurance product. Instead, it operates within an international private medical insurance framework, focusing on access to specialised treatment abroad when needed.
Leadership Perspectives
Karim Idilby, Chief Growth Officer at AXA Global Healthcare, highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion:
“Tanzania represents an important milestone in AXA Health International’s global growth strategy… As the country’s role as a regional hub continues to expand, so too does demand for international healthcare protection.”
He added that the collaboration combines AXA’s global expertise with strong local partnerships to deliver best-in-class service while ensuring regulatory alignment.
Rajiv Kumar, CEO of Alliance Insurance Corporation Limited, noted:
“As Tanzania’s economy continues to grow and international mobility increases, the need for reliable international healthcare protection has evolved.”
Meanwhile, Aly Maherali, CEO of MIC Global Risks, emphasised the value proposition:
“The Global Executive Health Plan provides a clear pathway to international healthcare protection… combining strong local insurance support with global healthcare expertise.”
