Cole Palmer's first-ever penalty miss: Leicester's Keeper makes history, denying Chelsea star

In a historic moment during the Premier League match between Chelsea and Leicester City at Stamford Bridge, Danish goalkeeper Mads Hermansen became the first player to save a penalty from Chelsea's Cole Palmer.

This remarkable save ended Palmer's perfect record from the spot, marking his first missed penalty in his career on Sunday afternoon.

The pivotal moment occurred in the first half when Leicester City's Victor Kristiansen fouled Jadon Sancho from behind, leading to a penalty for Chelsea.

Palmer, known for his precision, struck his 13th Premier League penalty low and hard to Hermansen's left.

However, the Danish goalkeeper made an impressive save, getting down assuredly to deny Palmer's effort and keep the scoreline level at 0-0.

This save not only showed Hermansen's skill but also marked a significant milestone in Palmer's career, as he had previously maintained a 100% success rate with penalties.

Chelsea however, finally took the lead in spectacular fashion on the hour when Spanish defender Cucurella drilled into the bottom corner from 25 yards as the game ended 1 - 0.

It was only Chelsea’s fourth victory in their last 12 league games as they responded to boss Enzo Maresca’s challenge to win all their remaining home matches.

Maresca believes that should be enough to ensure Champions League action, but Chelsea will have to improve on a spluttering performance against second-bottom Leicester.
