Kenya will host the final of the 2024 CAF African Nations Championships (CHAN) on 30th August this year at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, boosting the country’s sports exposure on the International stage.
The decision was made today following consultations between CAF and the three nations that will be hosting the 8th edition this year (Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda) from August 2nd to the 30th.

CAF Media confirmed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, through their official X account, that the final will be played on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium. “The final match will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on Saturday, August 30, 2025,” read part of the post.
“Tanzania to host opening match, Uganda to host third/fourth, and Kenya to host final match of the TotalEnergies CAF CHAN 2024,” read part of the post.

Originally scheduled for February 2024, CHAN was postponed to August 2025 due to unavailable stadiums. CAF’s Executive Committee approved the new dates in January.
The tournament, which features players from domestic leagues, will offer Kenyan talent a rare chance to shine on home soil. Local fans are expected to turn up in large numbers, with the event promising an economic and tourism boost.

Football stakeholders have welcomed the development, calling it a timely opportunity to showcase Kenya’s hosting capability.
CAF also confirmed that Zanzibar will be one of the official host venues. “Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium recently staged a successful TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 final in May this year,” read a statement on the official CAF portal.
Group stage matches will be spread across four cities in the host nations.
Group A fixtures will be held in Nairobi, where hosts Kenya are grouped with Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia.
Dar es Salaam will host Group B, which features Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.
Group C matches will take place in Kampala, with Uganda drawn alongside Niger, Guinea, South Africa, and Algeria. Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium will host Group D, made up of Senegal, Congo, Sudan, and Nigeria.
