The Harambee Stars produced a commanding performance to sweep aside Seychelles 5-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash.
Goals from Ryan Wesley Ogam, Collins Sichenje, and captain Michael Olunga highlighted a convincing display that underlined Kenya’s attacking depth and aerial dominance.
Kenya struck early, with Ryan Wesley Ogam opening the scoring in the 7th minute. Duke Abuya delivered a well-placed free kick, and the towering striker met it with a powerful header to put the hosts in front. Just minutes later, Ogam nearly doubled his tally after connecting with a quick exchange between Duke Abuya and Olunga, though his effort only won a corner.
The Harambee Stars’ relentless pressure paid off again in the 35th minute. From a series of set pieces, midfielder Collins Sichenje rose highest to nod home Kenya’s second, Abuya registering his second assist of the evening. The momentum continued to build, and Ogam was on hand again in the 38th minute to finish off after Abuya’s shot had cannoned off the post, giving Kenya a commanding 3-0 lead with yet another header.
On the stroke of half-time, the Stars were awarded a penalty after Olunga was fouled inside the box during a counterattack. The skipper calmly slotted home from the spot to make it 4-0 at the interval.
In the second half, Kenya controlled proceedings comfortably, introducing fresh legs with Nabwire, Stanley Omondi, and Muchiri all coming on. The substitutes made an impact, with Muchiri providing a teasing cross in the 67th minute that found Olunga, who completed his brace with a header, Kenya’s fourth headed goal of the game.
The Harambee Stars comfortably saw out the remainder of the match, with late substitutions giving opportunities to Bandi Lewis and Michael Kibwage. Seychelles rarely threatened, and Kenya’s defensive organisation kept them at bay to preserve the clean sheet.
