Atlancis Technologies Deploys GPU-Powered AI Factory in Nairobi

Atlancis Technologies Deploys GPU-Powered AI Factory in Nairobi

Atlancis Technologies, through its Servernah Cloud platform, has rolled out East and Central Africa’s first GPU-powered Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub, hosted at iXAfrica Data Centres, one of Kenya’s leading AI-ready carrier-neutral facility.

The launch represents a key moment in the region’s technological evolution, providing access to high-performance computing infrastructure that will drive AI innovation and reduce reliance on external systems.

For years, Africa’s tech innovators have faced limited access to high-performance computing (HPC) systems needed for AI research and deployment. That gap is now narrowing with the introduction of the Servernah AI-as-a-Service platform.

Developed using Open Compute Project (OCP) principles and powered by NVIDIA GPUs, the platform delivers the computing strength of global hyperscalers, adapted to Africa’s specific needs. Offered as a cloud-based service, it supports machine learning, deep learning, data analytics, and other compute-intensive applications with improved scalability and energy efficiency.

“This is more than an infrastructure milestone; it’s the heartbeat of Africa’s AI revolution,” said Daniel Njuguna, Founder and CEO of Atlancis Technologies. “We’re showing the world that world-class innovation can be built, hosted, and powered entirely from within Africa.”

According to Everse Technology Co-founder and CEO Michael Michie, the deployment of AI-ready infrastructure is the critical first step toward realizing Africa’s full potential in artificial intelligence.

“Having the right foundation for AI is how Africa begins to take control of its own digital future,” Michie noted. “Partnerships like these will accelerate AI adoption across multiple sectors, from finance and health to agriculture and education.”

Everse Technology is working to help clients maximize the value of AI, from identifying viable use cases to training models, while ensuring that data remains within local jurisdictions.

The AI hub is hosted at iXAfrica’s NBOX1 campus, East Africa’s first hyperscale, AI-ready data centre. The facility supports power densities of up to 50 kW per rack, offering high energy efficiency, carrier-neutral connectivity, and Tier 3 reliability standards. It operates on a green-powered grid, ensuring 99.999% uptime and minimal latency for high-intensity AI operations.

“This marks a defining moment in Africa’s AI infrastructure journey,” said Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica Data Centre. “Collaborations like this are building the foundation for an intelligent, locally powered, and globally competitive Africa.”

Africa's AI Compute Deficit - Opportunities

This infrastructure arrives at a time when Africa faces a significant AI compute deficit. In 2024, the Middle East and Africa held just 2% of the global GPU for AI market, valued at $351.62 million, according to Cognitive Market Research. However, the region is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 30.3% through 2031, signaling immense potential for expansion.

Across the continent, similar developments are gaining momentum. Cassava Technologies announced a $700 million partnership with NVIDIA to deploy GPU-powered AI data centers across multiple African countries. Meanwhile, in early 2024, the UAE-based AI firm G42 partnered with Kenya’s EcoCloud to develop a geothermal-powered data center.

Global cloud giants are also taking notice. Microsoft plans to invest in a cloud and AI infrastructure in South Africa by 2027, while in October 2025, UniCloud Africa unveiled a Sovereign Cloud and AI platform across six countries. These moves reflect a broader shift toward “Sovereign AI,” where African nations build domestic infrastructure to retain control over data and innovation.

The Servernah deployment makes high-performance GPUs locally accessible, empowering African enterprises, researchers, and governments to build and deploy AI models without relying on foreign infrastructure.

Conclusion - The Birth of African AI

Every revolution begins with a spark. Across Africa, ideas are abundant, but the High Performance Computing (HPC) Infrastructure is scarce. Until now. The Servernah AI-as-a-Service platform, built on Open Compute Project (OCP) design principles and powered by NVIDIA GPUs, delivers Hyperscaler compute performance engineered for Africa’s unique challenges. Delivered as a cloud service, the infrastructure is designed to accelerate high performance computing, machine learning, deep learning, and data analytics workloads with unmatched scalability, energy efficiency, and sustainability. This is the first pulse of a new era where innovation is built here, for here.

This milestone marks a historic leap in Africa’s digital evolution; a move from foreign technology dependency to digital sovereignty, empowering enterprises, governments, and innovators to build, train, and deploy AI models within the continent’s borders. This milestone is also a catalyst for AI adoption and growth within the region by making GPUs locally accessible.
