Manchester United have entered talks to hijack Arsenal’s move for one of Europe’s most highly-rated young midfielders, with the Red Devils confident they can win the race for the ‘fearless’ playmaker this summer.
United have made six signings so far in the summer transfer window, including two midfielders. Andrey Santos has joined from Chelsea for £50million, while Youri Tielemans has switched from Aston Villa for £35m.
Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Cristian Orozco and Tynan Thompson are the other four players who have joined Man Utd this summer.
The Red Devils are now aiming to make a third midfield signing before the summer transfer window closes.
While plenty of big names have been linked to Old Trafford, the club is also snapping up young prospects, with reports indicating United are working on a deal to sign teenager Louis Page from Leicester City.
Page is only 18 years of age, but the England Under-20 international midfielder has already made 21 appearances for the Leicester first team, with his most recent outing coming during Saturday's Carabao Cup victory over Northampton Town.
The midfielder is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects operating outside the top flight. Page enjoyed a brilliant breakthrough season, which ultimately saw him crowned as the EFL Apprentice of the Year, despite Leicester City suffering relegation to League One.
Page joined Leicester’s academy at U-nine level and progressed through the club’s youth system before making his senior debut against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup in August 2025. He has since developed into a fearless competitor on the pitch.
While Manchester United appear to be in pole position, they are not the only club chasing Page. Arsenal and Aston Villa have also shown strong interest in the box-to-box midfielder in recent weeks.
If Arsenal miss out on Page, it would mark the second time this summer they have lost a highly-rated Leicester City teenager to a Manchester club, after Jeremy Monga joined Manchester City for an initial £10 million. Any suitor must negotiate a fee with Leicester City, as the player remains on professional terms.
Page reportedly favors United, which gives the club a meaningful edge over Arsenal and Aston Villa as negotiations continue.
He has a contract through June 2029, so Leicester retains full control of the transfer. The presence of multiple Premier League bids means the club can negotiate from a position that generates real value.
A fee in the region of his estimated €4 million market value would represent meaningful income for a club navigating League One finances, though Leicester may push for more given the competitive bidding environment and the player’s age profile.
His experience already sets him apart from many academy recruits. Page has played meaningful senior football in the Championship and is capable of operating in different midfield roles.
