Embakasi East Member Of Parliament Paul Ongili, popularly Known as Babu Owino, has called out President William Ruto, following the head of state's recent name-calling of Kenyans opposed to his administration's policies.
Speaking on Friday, December 13, 2024, the vocal Embakasi Legislator reminded President Ruto of his pre-election promises, his hustler narrative and his 'opposition role' during previous regime's.
In a video seen by this Julisha Reporter, Babu Owino clarified the reason Kenyans feel disappointed in the Ruto-leadership, stating over taxation, unemployment and high cost of living just to name a few.
"Fellow Kenyans, this message is directed to President William Ruto. I want to tell you Mr President, the direction you are taking is completely wrong. When you were campaigning, you knew Kenyans are hustlers but now you have resorted to calling them 'Mapepo' (demons) for opposing your administration's unfavorable policies" Babu stated.
The Embakasi East legislator, went ahead to remind the president he started the opposition spirit, opposing the new constitution, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the Uhuru Kenyatta leadership, despite him being his deputy.
Babu, stated that Kenyans have every right to air their frustration, considering they are barely surving, under the Ruto administration.
"Kenyans are opposing your policies because they are suffering. Kenyans are experiencing various challenges ranging from over taxation, High Cost of Living, unemployment and various other challenges." the Mp said.
The Embakasi East legislator, empasized it was unreasonable for the Kenya-kwanza administration to introduce new deductions on payslips, while not increasing salaries, despite the economic hardships Kenyans are going through.
" Mr President, you have introduced a new health insurance scheme, through the Social Health Authority, which slashes more from monthly salaries of civil servants and requires the casual workers to incur extra charges for health. Increasing their pay however, is where you draw the line". Ongili said.
Citing the hiked University fees through the new funding Model, Babu Owino stated it was inconsiderate of President Ruto to thwart the education efforts of Young Kenyans from humble backgrounds.
The Mp, who once revealed he had struggled during his early years in campus since his parents were not financially stable, expressed disappointment that students are now being forced to cut short their dreams, over unaffordable fees.
Babu Owino urged the president to take time during the festive season, reflect on his policies and reconsider his decisions. The vocal legislator tore at the current presidential advisors, stating they are not qualified to sit on the same table with the head of state formulating policies for the East African Country.
"Mr President, you know the people surrounding you do not have brains, they have no friends and you also know they are not the right people to be advising you, so take your time during this holiday to reflect. Make sure you manage this country". Babu stated.
Babu Owino went ahead to caution President Ruto against getting too comfortable at State House saying, 'In the Foreseeable future, we are going to take this country'.
