KENYA : Kibwezi west Member of Parliament (MP) Mwengi Mutuse, has expressed interest to contest for Kenyan presidency in the near future.
According to Mutuse, the East African country deserves an Optimistic, resilient leader who will go all the way to steer it through tribalism and Corruption, which makes him the most suitable candidate for the top-seat.
The Legislator, emphasized, 'I have what it takes to
Mutuse, who was attending a funeral at Kalungu sub-location, Kikumbulyu South in Kibwezi West on December 14, weighed in on the constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Mutuse told constituents that the Parliamentary Committee, has always been ready to establish the selection panel to reconstitute the IEBC.
" As a committee and Parliament, we have dutifully passed all the necessary legislation, including the recent amendments emanating from the Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon. Kimani Ichungwa-led NADCO." he Said.
The legislator, opined there are individuals who are relentlessly pushing for the electoral body's constitution, to blame it on the head of state.
" However, it’s important for Kenyans to know that there are elements who are hell-bent on sabotaging the process to blame delays in the reconstitution of the IEBC on President William Ruto. They hope to gain political mileage from these tricks." He Said.
The Mp, told residents that as legislators, they know the individuals who are sabotaging the process and they shall name them so that Kenyans can see through their hypocrisy.
Speaking recently, the Kibwezi West Member of Parliament urged the Kamba Community to follow Raila Odinga's Move into President William Ruto's administration, stating the community has been sidelined from leadership for far-too long.
Mutuse claimed that Kambas have been in Opposition since president Mwai Kibaki's era, while supporting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Chief, Raila Odinga.
"We have realized as Kambas, it's time for change. We have been in opposition since 2007, during Kibaki's Presidency, seventeen years later, we still are out in the Cold", Mutuse Said.
The Legislator, stated that the Kamba Community, has all along been supporting Raila Odinga during General Elections, who has oftenly shifted his allegiance, joining the elected leadership through 'secret deals, forgetting to factor in the impact this has on the Ukambani region.
Mutuse, urged the electorate in Ukambani to support President William Ruto's administration and follow Raila Odinga into the Government of National Unity, stating it's the only logical way to act, considering Raila was their Preferred Presidential Candidate in 2022.
"In Ukambani We voted for Raila Odinga during the 2022 General Elections, there was no Kamba Leader on the Ballot. Raila has often left Kambas in the Cold despite the Support. He joined Kibaki's government, the same happened during Uhuru's Presidency through Handshake and now he has joined Ruto's administration. If Raila has joined Government, which other brain do Kambas need to Understand they Should also be in Government?" Mutuse Quiped.
The Kibwezi West Legislator, rose into fame recently, after moving an impeachment Motion against Kenya's Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Impeachment Motion, has since earned him ardent admirers, Critics, Supporters and Enemies in equal measure. While Gachagua's Supporters opined the legislator was ill-used to move a state agenda, Government Supporters have since branded him a 'hero'.
Mutuse said that he is a proud Kenyan after the National Assembly and the Senate approved the impeachment motion against the former Deputy President.
In a statement, Mutuse said Kenya will never be the same again and insisted that the decision will now force those in leadership to always abide by the constitution and laws of Kenya.
“I’m a proud Kenyan tonight. Thank you colleagues at the National Assembly and Senate for approving my impeachment charges against former DP Hon. Rigathi Gachagua.
“Kenya will never be the same again. Those of us in leadership must henceforth leave to the letter and spirit of our Constitution and Laws,” Mutuse said.
The legislator further said that he is also proud to go to the books of history as the first Kenyan to initiate a successful impeachment of a sitting DP. Mutuse reiterated he did it for the people of Kenya and it took a lot of courage to do it.
