Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga against trusting President William Ruto, stating that the President plots to take over Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
Speaking during the launch of Martha Karua's People's Liberation Party on Thursday, February 27, Gachagua alleged that Ruto is a cunning Character, who no one in their right mind should trust.
The Former Dp, claimed that President Ruto's support of Raila's Failed African Union Commission Chairperson Bid, had an ulterior Motive.
Gachagua, claimed that during his tenure as the deputy President, he questioned the President's support of Odinga, leading to a revelation of the motive behind his endless lobbying for the Kenyan candidate.
" William Ruto will con everybody, even Raila Odinga. He will outmaneuver and confuse him. You will see it for yourself. The Day Raila Planned to go to the AU, I asked Ruto what's your plan with this old man? He said, Let me take care of it, I will send him to the AU and Take Over ODM" Gachagua said.
His remarks come days after the President Hosted the Azimio Coalition leader in Mombasa, following his AUC loss.
Ruto hosted Odinga at State House Mombasa on Monday morning, February 24.
The event was Ruto's first meeting with Raila after his concession in the AUC chairperson race, where he was eliminated after several rounds of voting.
President Ruto, lauded the Former Prime Minister for his Campaign in the African Union Commission Chairperson Bid, thanking the entire African continent for its show of solidarity and support to Kenya.
"Raila Odinga rolled out a formidable and effective campaign for the position of African Union Commission chairperson across the continent. He was present and available for the busy schedules and appointments in nearly all capitals of Africa." said Ruto.
"His inspiring message of what is needed for the continent's transformation brought our country, Eastern Africa, and Africa together. We thank everyone who contributed to his campaign. A special mention to the entire Africa for its show of solidarity and support to Kenya and Odinga." He added.
Speaking during the Event, Raila described Ruto as his younger brother, thanking him for supporting his bid for the African Union Commission chairperson seat.
The ODM boss added that he would consult with his party and friends before giving a way forward on his next move.
"I am back home and I am going to meet with my friends and supporters. I am going to consult widely on what is going on and in due course we are going to announce our way forward." said Raila.
"Today we just came to meet the President and thank him with his team for the support he had given me. Also, I want to thank Kenyans who have supported me throughout this period of the campaign. I want to say watch this pace, I will be talking again." He added.
The President however, hinted at working with the Former Prime Minister in the near future, noting that they had closed ranks with the opposition leader, adding that they were keen on ensuring that they work together for Kenyans.
The Head of State further remarked that there would be more broadened consultations between the government and other parties in the political arena amidst talks of a UDA-ODM partnership ahead of 2027.
"We closed ranks as a country and focused on what we can do for Kenya - the things that require our collective effort," Ruto said.
"I must be grateful that the necessary political capital that is required to move transformative programmes in our country now exists courtesy of the broad-based government and we will continue to focus on policies and programs that will catapult our country to the next level." He added.
