Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has blushed off the impact of the recently signed Pact between President William Ruto and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, stating the deal does not increase Ruto's Days in the House on the hill.
According to the Wiper Party chief, Ruto's days at the helm are numbered, with Kenyans wiser and ready to exercise their democratic right come 2027 - General Election.
Mr. Kalonzo, claims that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga betrayed Kenyans following the signing of a pact between UDA and ODM.
Speaking at the People Dialogue Festival, Kalonzo warned that the outfit would still be rejected by Kenyans owing to the policies of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
He added that it would be a betrayal if Raila fails to push for the government to compensate Kenyans who were killed and injured during the Finance Bill protests in 2023 and 2024.
"If out of what they are signing at KICC, they do not come with a formula on how to address the injustice meted on Kenyans on June 25 and 2023 that will be betrayal in the city.
"Handshake or no handshake, Ruto must go," the Wiper leader stated.
On his part, Eugene Wamalwa warned that Raila would be judged harshly, given that he had left his push to fight for Kenyans in favour of a pact with President William Ruto.
"We choose to stand on the side of Gen Z and the people of Kenya. For those who have left the opposition to join the government, history is a harsh judge. May history judge them," Wamalwa remarked.
The statements of the two leaders came after President William Ruto signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, bringing the ODM party into a working partnership with the Kenya - Kwanza administration.
The deal, signed at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Friday, March 7, outlines several commitments between the two leaders, including the full implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, tackling youth unemployment and enforcing the two-thirds gender rule.
“Priority issues in the NADCO report like the cost of living, youth unemployment, establishing a framework for the implementation of the two-thirds gender rule have been the topic of discussion for far too long and now must be actualized,” the agreement reads in part.
Ruto and Raila also agreed on the inclusivity of all Kenyans regardless of ethnicity, religion, and geographic location.
" Kenya belongs to all persons regardless of their ethnicity, religion or geographic location, all Kenyans are equal and all entitled to an equitable budgetary resource allocation and public appointments,” the MoU stated.
The two agreed on protecting and strengthening devolution in the country by ensuring more effort is put into devolving all funds allocated to a devolved function, increasing budgetary allocation to counties and ensuring the timely and predictable disbursement of devolved funds.
President Ruto and the former Prime Minister further agreed to promote and protect the livelihoods of young people by ensuring the government makes massive investments in all high-potential sectors of the economy including Mining, blue economy, Agriculture, and ICT, to create sufficient employment opportunities that provide ways for young people to earn a decent living.
At the same time, the two leaders agreed that the expression of opulence and rudeness by public officers must come to an end.
“Kenyans are concerned by the expression of opulence accompanied by rude and arrogant conduct of public officers. And the impunity that has followed the same. It must be enforced that the demeanor of public servants needs to reflect the dignity of their offices. We must also urgently provide a legal framework for addressing conflict of interest among public servants,” the memorandum stated.
Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, is poised to Contest the Presidency come 2027, as deliberations - in the now opposition side - continue taking Place.
He's banking on the support of the Mount Kenya Region vote-block, where President Ruto's administration has faced rejection and backlash from the Citizenry, discontent at his Former Deputy's ouster, unfulfilled Promises among other issues.
The President on the other hand, seems to have shifted focus to the Western Kenya region Vote-block, in a bid to consolidate his base amid rising Opposition in the country.
