Moses Kuria has quit President William Ruto's government. Kuria, announced his resignation via his official social Media pages Tuesday evening, July 8.
Kuria was the senior advisor in Ruto's Council of Economic Advisors, a post he held for ten months.
" This evening I have met my boss and my friend President William Ruto. The President has graciously accepted my decision to resign from government." reads the statement in part.
" I thank President Ruto for having given me an opportunity to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry for 11 months, Public Service, Delivery and Performance Management for 9 months and Senior Evomomic Advisor for the last 10 months." he added.
The former Gatundu South Mp, cited the need to pursue personal interests, as the motivation behind his decision.
"As I move on to pursue personal interests I am proud of the work the President and I did to implement the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda which I designed together with the President as our 2022 Electoral Platform. Long Live Kenya" concluded Kuria.
Moses Kuria's resignation as President Ruto’s senior adviser on the Council of Economic Advisors, comes weeks after he hinted at vying for presidency in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Sunday, June 22, Kuria said he has all the qualifications and is more than ready to vie for the country’s top leadership position.
“There is a possibility that I will run for president in 2027. The only seat that I cannot vie for is the Women Rep position, but from MCA to the President, I have every qualification. I am more than ready” he said.
He also claimed that his political reach extends beyond his home region.
“I can do a rally in any part of this country without the local MP. I’m a villager in every part of the country, Garissa, Wajir, wherever,” he said. “That’s the kind of democracy I fought for.
The former CS also revealed he is in talks with Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party and has given them an offer to work together ahead of the 2027 election.
“We are talking, it's Uhuru’s party and I have another party, I have given them that offer, if they take it fine, if they don’t, I have a party and life will go on,” Kuria stated.
