Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has taken aim at the United Opposition, describing it as uninspiring and bound together by bitterness rather than a shared vision for the country.
In a statement on Saturday, Nyamu criticized opposition leaders, arguing that their unity is rooted in vengeance and personal grievances instead of ideas and solutions for Kenyans.
“The opposition today is so uninspiring. All these guys have only one thing in common. United by bitterness and vengeance,” Nyamu stated.
While maintaining her critical stance, Nyamu acknowledged that some opposition figures possess political experience and talent, though she questioned their effectiveness and motivation.
Nyamu singled out only two members of the United Opposition as bright minds, adding that the rest were driven by vengeance and bitterness. She lauded People's Liberation Party Leader, Martha Karua and Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka as sober minds among the lot.
However, she opined that Kalonzo's greatest shortcoming was his below-par performance record despite being in politics for decades.
“There may be one or two bright minds, Kalonzo looks sober though kazi ata hajui, Martha Karua was my role model growing up." She said.
The senator went on to strongly reaffirm her loyalty to President William Ruto, insisting that her support for him is not conditional on party affiliation or personal circumstances.
“I’m telling you even if I ever made a mistake and my party, UDA, showed me the door, you’d still see me supporting President William Ruto and you’d probably think I’m crazy. But I would never give bitterness space and join these,” Nyamu added.
Her remarks come amid heightened political exchanges between government allies and opposition leaders as early positioning for the 2027 General Election continues to take shape.
Nyamu’s comments reflect the deepening political divide, with loyalty, ideology, and personal conviction increasingly shaping public political discourse.
