KENYA'S President William Ruto took a swipe at his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, describing him as incompetent, corrupt and incapable of governance.
Speaking in Vihiga County on Wednesday, January 22, While launching the construction of a modern market in Luanda, the Head of State blamed the former Deputy President for his impeachment, stating that Gachagua was unable to perform his duties.
Additionally, Ruto alleged that the former DP was a tribalist stating that the plans Gachagua and his allies had flopped following their removal from office.
"There are some people who we gave work and because of incompetence, not understanding anything, theft, conmanship, corruption, hatred, their plan and work flopped," said Ruto.
"I want to tell them that they will continue failing because Kenya does not have any space for people who are corrupt, do not know how to work and are tribalists." He added.
Additionally, he warned Gachagua and his team that they would not succeed given that they were only focused on causing divisions among Kenyans.
"We have no time for tribalist people who are incompetent and those who want to divide our nation into ethnic, parochial, and personal lines," Ruto remarked.
"We are united as a people and Kenya is going to march forward as one indivisible country."
Ruto made the remarks days after Gachagua claimed that Ruto was behind the shareholding narrative that he often referred to in his speeches.
As claimed by Gachagua, Ruto often told him what to say during public events.
“When you hear MPs talking, he (Ruto) is the one who has sent them. I was with him, and he would instruct me on what to say. I complied for a while but later stopped listening to him," the former DP claimed.
"He sits there with a pen instructing leaders on what to say. It reached a point when he would instruct me on what to say, but I'd get to the podium and speak about other things," said Gachagua.
The exchange of words between the two has been escalating in recent weeks, with Gachagua blaming Ruto for his impeachment and accusing the head of state of betraying the Mt Kenya region.
Gachagua, has also been vocal in calling out the Kenya-kwanza administration following the rise of abductions in the country.
Two days ago, Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and close ally of the president, defended the head of state against the onslaught.
Sudi, revealed that there were three impeachment plans against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Legislator claimed that the three attempts to impeach Gachagua were foiled after the intervention of President William Ruto and his allies.
Speaking in a video posted on his social media pages on Monday, January 20, Sudi claimed that Ruto stopped the first two impeachment plans initiated against his then-deputy.
"When the first impeachment was brought, the President returned it. The second one was brought and the President also returned it.
"When the third one was brought, Kindiki, Ichung'wah and myself among others intervened," he alleged.
On the other hand, Sudi called out Gachagua for claiming that Ruto used to instruct him on what to say during public events.
The MP claimed that the recent comments by Gachagua were only aimed at eliciting emotions and creating differences among Kenyans.
"All those things that removed you from that seat were personal. You know what you demanded and it was not possible. Very soon all the lies will be known." Sudi remarked.
"You are claiming that the president was writing for you down what to say. Surely, even if Kenyans are stupid, do you want to say that Ruto has been writing for you what to say? I used to be your biggest supporter and I warned you against your inexperience and rushed ambitions." He added.
Meanwhile, the Former Deputy President has vowed to steer the Mt Kenya Region back into government.
Gachagua, pledged to unite the region ahead of the 2027 General Elections, exuding Confidence in the Region's ability to Clinch the top Seat.
The former Deputy President, revealed that the region will be working with its allies, in a bid to oust the incumbent President.
" God willing, I will lead the Mt Kenya region into government. A government that respects and works for it's people. We have the numbers. All we need is to create unity and get the right friends. We have many friends and we will succeed." Gachagua said.
The Former DP, urged the electorate, not to re-elect Senators and Members of Parliament from the region, who supported his ouster.
President William Ruto on the other hand has exuded confidence in his administration's ability to woo Kenyans for a second term come 2027, stating that his achievements will speak for themselves when the time comes.
