Edgar Wabwire vows to Transform Shinyalu Constituency as Mp

Kenyan Youth, make up a significant portion of the population with about 75% of the citizens being under the age of 35, yet young people have not been adequately represented in leadership positions.

This has led to a disconnect between the youth and the government, resulting in a lack of trust and a feeling of exclusion among the younger generation.

However, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of youth leadership, and the need to empower young people to take on more prominent roles in society, an opportunity to bring change that Edgar is ready to embrace.

Edgar Wabwire, a young journalist born and raised in Shinyalu, describes himself as a social justice defender, driven by a deep passion for humanity, fairness, and the transformative power of truth.

The 2027 Shinyalu Constituency Member of Parliament (Mp) aspirant, speaking to JUlISHA MEDIA, paints a clear picture of what has motivated him to seek an elective post.

"My greatest motivation lies in uplifting communities, amplifying unheard voices, and creating spaces where dreams, especially those from the grassroots, can take flight. Whether through investigative journalism, advocacy, or community engagement, I am committed to making a lasting impact by standing up for what is right and empowering others to realize their fullest potential." he stated.

The Young Journalist, opines that the Country and Citizenry requires a shift in mindset, where young people are no longer viewed as passive recipients of aid but as active agents of change.

" I have tasted bad leadership and because of being tired of watching our people suffer while career politicians trade our future for handshakes and handouts. Shinyalu doesn’t need another politician—we need a revolution of conscience. I’m stepping up not to beg for votes, but to dismantle a system that has turned leadership into a business and the youth into beggars. If we don’t rise now, we risk raising another generation in poverty, broken promises, and silence. I refuse to be silent." said Edgar.

He slammed the current leadership in the Constituency, calling out leaders for negligence while locals are grappling in poverty, unemployment, poor infrastructure and high cost of living.

Edgar warned that the 2027 Election will not be business as usual, stating that the people need and deserve change, which only a young, goal oriented leader can provide.

"The current leadership in Shinyalu is a tragic blend of complacency and mediocrity. We have leaders who show up for funerals but disappear when the people need jobs, healthcare, or clean water. They’ve mastered the art of speeches and handouts, but failed the basics of leadership—vision, action, and accountability. Shinyalu is rich in talent, yet poor in opportunity. That’s not by accident—it’s by design. Our leaders have chosen comfort over courage, and loyalty to party bosses over loyalty to the people. It’s time we called it what it is: failed leadership hiding behind political theatrics. We deserve better—and we’re coming for it." he affirmed.

On how he plans to oust the current leadership, Edgar notes he has two key strategies that are Sleek, inclusive and with a pledge to fulfill his promises to the people.

" People-Powered Campaigning – Not Party-Powered: I’m running with the people, not for the party. My campaign will be crowd-sourced, community-driven, and focused on real issues—not party propaganda or tribal politics. Every rally, every move will be rooted in local needs and voices.

Accountability Pledges Signed in Public: Before elections, I’ll sign written commitments in front of the people—on job creation, bursaries, water access, and youth empowerment—with timelines. And I’ll be back to report, every 6 months, with or without cameras." said Edgar.

"I want to lead a Shinyalu where dignity is restored, development is felt—not just promised—and leadership means serving, not ruling. A Shinyalu that no longer begs, but builds. Because we’re not waiting for change—we’re becoming the change." he reiterated.

According to JULISHA political pundits, the current generation of young people in Kenya is more educated, informed, and tech-savvy than ever before. They are also more politically active, and their voices are being heard more than ever before.

In 2010, Kenya passed a new constitution that recognizes youth as a marginalized group that requires special attention in terms of access to education, employment, and political representation. This has created a platform for young people to participate in leadership, and we are already seeing some remarkable young leaders emerging.

One of the most significant contributions of the youth in leadership today is their ability to think critically and outside the box. They are not bound by traditional thinking and are more willing to experiment with new ideas and approaches.

This has led to innovative solutions to some of the country's most pressing challenges, including job creation, climate change, and poverty reduction.

The youth are also more connected than ever before, thanks to advances in technology. Social media has become a powerful tool for mobilizing young people and amplifying their voices. This has given them a platform to express their views and engage with decision-makers in ways that were not possible before.

As the 2027 Polls loom Closer the youth have a vital role to play in leadership and we need to support and empower them to do so. Young people bring fresh ideas, critical thinking, and a willingness to experiment that are essential for addressing the country's most pressing challenges. In working towards building a more prosperous and inclusive Kenya, it is critical that we recognize the importance of youth leadership and invest in the next generation of leaders.
