Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has slammed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna following his remarks on Thursday, May 8, while appearing on an interview in a local media station.
In a statement, Salasya demanded respect from the ODM Secretary General, saying he is a self-made leader who sought support from the citizenry.
The Mumias East lawmaker told off Sifuna, stating that the Nairobi Senator would not survive in politics without ODM Party leaders' Raila Odinga support.
“Edwin Sifuna You have a degree in law; I have a degree in banking and finance .You are a Senator and I am a member of parliament. You come from western I come from western. The only difference Between you and me is I am a self-made leader while you were given your position by Raila Odinga and you can't survive in politics without Raila, so respect me. I am your presidential candidate." said Salasya.
“Too much English shouldn't make you arrogant, take it to court, not into politics. And by the way, my PA, Elvis Anguche, is also a lawyer, just like you,” he added.
Sifuna while speaking during the interview, clashed with Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda over the 10-point MoU signed between Ruto and Raila.
Sifuna told Ojienda not to behave like Salasya but to read the agreement and understand it better.
“I can forgive Salasya for refusing to read this document and assuming Sifuna signed it, but I cannot forgive Professor Ojienda,” Sifuna said.
He added, “ You are a professor of law, please don’t behave like Salasya. Read the document so that you can understand and explain it to your people.”
During the discussion, Senator Sifuna explained that the broad-based government idea existed before the MoU between Ruto and Raila was signed.
He argued that CSs John Mbadi, Hassan Joho, Opiyo Wandayi, and Wycliffe Oparanya did not join the Ruto cabinet because of the MoU.
“The so-called broad-based animal started existing in Ruto’s mind before this document was signed. It was signed on February 7, 2025, by that time, Mbadi, Joho and the other were already in the cabinet,” Sifuna stated.
