Tigania East Member Of Parliament (MP) Mpuru Aburi has exuded confidence in President William Ruto's successful re-election bid, reassuring the head of state of Meru Support come 2027.
The vocal legislator, stated that the Kenya-kwanza administration has helped pull the country from the 'pit-hole' it was and is initiating reforms to ease the cost of living for the citizenry, a reason, according to him, the President deserves another term.
Mpuru, blushed off critics who claim Ruto's popularity in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region is diminishing, insisting Meru Residents have unanimously agreed to support the President's bid for a second term in the 2027 General Election.
The Mp, noted that the larger Meru region is a beneficiary of the Kenya-kwanza administration's inclusivity in the broad-based government, citing the nomination and approval of Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President, who hails from neighbouring Tharaka Nithi county.
The Legislator, claimed that the Meru electorates' support will see Ruto win with a landside, and when Ruto's tenure ends in 2032, Dp Kithure Kindiki will rise to the occasion to become the first president from the region.
" As the people of Meru, we have unanimously agreed to support President William Ruto come 2027. We are in government because that is where development is. Kenya Kwanza is transforming this country and Meru is benefiting. When Ruto's term ends in 2032, Kithure Kindiki will take over" said Aburi.
The vocal legislator, slammed Opposition leaders, accusing them of fuelling divisive, tribal politics while the current administration is implementing Inclusivity and National Unity. This, Mpuru said, is undermining the progress the country has made.
He alleged that Opposition leaders who have expressed interest in the top seat have no agenda or manifesto to transform the lives of the citizenry and that their bid to oust President William Ruto come 2027 will be in vain.
Meanwhile, Mpuru called upon the residents of Meru to support President Ruto and the Kenya-kwanza administration, assuring locals the government will fulfill all the promises it made to Kenyans.
His remarks come in the wake of heightened competition ahead of the General Elections.
The 2027 General election is shaping up as a battleground between different contenders determined to oust President Ruto from the house on the hill.
Nearly three years into his presidency, Mr. Ruto faces mounting headwinds that threaten to derail his administration as the country grapples with economic, political and social pressures.
Discontent, first sparked by protests against the Finance Bill of 2024, has resurfaced amid widespread distrust and anger. Meanwhile, the impeachment of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has reshaped political dynamics within the coalition that brought Ruto to power.
The recent Announcement by Former Interior Cs Fred Matiang'i who declared interest in the Presidential seat, added another heavyweight in the list.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a seasoned politician, is also in contention, drumming up support as he calls out the government for it's short-comings.
Also interested is Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, former Chief Justice David Maraga, Okiyah Omtatah among others.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is on the other hand orchestrating a scheme to see the Kenya-kwanza administration and President Ruto makes history as a one term President, accusing the head of state of betraying the Mt Kenya Region, graft and neglecting the plight of workers through huge payslip deductions to finance extravagance at the expense of the taxpayer.
