Isiolo elders have unanimously endorsed Tubi Mohamed Tubi, son of the late Isiolo South MP Tubi Bidu Mohamed, to contest the upcoming by-election for the Isiolo South Constituency seat.
The announcement was made on Saturday, November 15, by Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, who confirmed that the elders’ decision reflects the community’s respect for the late MP’s legacy and their confidence in his son’s ability to continue his work.
“This afternoon, our elders, drawn from all clans, have unanimously endorsed Tubi Mohamed Tubi, son of the late Hon. Mohamed Tubi Bidu, to vie for the Isiolo South Constituency seat in the upcoming by-election"
“This decision reflects the deep respect our community holds for the late Hon. Tubi’s legacy and our confidence in his son’s ability to uphold and advance his vision of dedicated public service. We fully support the elders’ resolution and stand firmly behind their unified voice.” Guyo said.
The governor 'respectfully' urged all those who had expressed interest in the seat to 'graciously' defer their ambitions until the 2027 General Elections, "In the interest of preserving harmony, strengthening cohesion, and avoiding unnecessary division at this sensitive moment"
“This is a moment for solidarity, not competition. We therefore encourage Tubi Mohamed Tubi to proceed UNOPPOSED, as this would serve as a strong symbol of unity, continuity, and respect for the collective will of our community.” he added.
Tubi Mohamed Tubi’s endorsement comes two days after his father, Tubi Bidu Mohamed, was buried. The late MP passed away on November 12, 2025 at Nairobi Hospital.
He was the fifth legislator of the current Parliament to die in office, following the deaths of Baringo Senator William Cheptumo, Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi, Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were, and Banisa MP Kullow Maalim Hassan.
During his tenure, Tubi Bidu Mohamed served on the Departmental Committee on Environment, Forestry and Mining and the Public Petitions Committee. He also championed environmental and wildlife conservation, a career that spanned two decades from 1993 to 2013 in Isiolo, Narok, and Samburu counties.
Before joining Parliament, he served as the first Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly from 2013 to 2017.
